From Tony Hawk to Simone Biles, Naomi Osaka to Gronk, millions of collectors have scooped up limited-run NFTs at record-setting prices. The Tom Brady-backed company announced on Wednesday that it had closed a $170M Series B round led by Andreessen Horowitz and Kleiner Perkins.  With the news, the company has also added three more people to its power-packed board, including Lightspeed’s Katie Haun, a16z’s Arianna Simpson, and Kleiner Perkins’s Ilya Fushman.

 Virgil Abloh-designed AF1s to go on Auction at Sotheby’s

Sotheby’s will sell 200 pairs of the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Low sneaker designed by Virgil Abloh starting next week. Bidding starts at $2,000 during the event which runs from Jan. 26 through Feb. 8. Sizes range from US 5 to 18, and each pair is packaged in an exclusive trunk. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Abloh’s “Post Modern” Scholarship Fund, first launched in 2020 through an initial endowment of $1 million.

As part of the agreement, Zebra will provide RFID (radio frequency identification) player and ball tracking technology to bring player performance insights to the practices leading up to the 2023 HBCU Legacy Bowl and the game itself. Zebra will also donate to the Black College Football Hall of Fame. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
