Launch of Nirvana NFTs on Kurt Cobainbirthday

As part of the celebration of Kurt Cobain’55th birthdaythe collection will be created using previously unseen photos from one of the bands October 1991 concerts.

The ‘Own a Piece of Nirvana History’ auction will take place on February 20th, on NFT music platform Pop Legendz. It will include four GIF-format NFT tokens which stem from five unpublished snapshots, with the starting price of each being a hefty 67 ETH (approximately $250,000). The auction will also be offering 10 still images at a starting price of 1 ETH, which will be available in both color and black and white varieties.

Each of the respective 14 auction winners will also receive a unique, fine art image which is framed and signed by the photographer and Pop Legendz founder, Faith West.

On the same day, the NFT platform will also be hosting ‘The Nirvana Fan Club Sale’,  where 100 lucky fans will have the chance to own an NFT of one of 10 unique image artworks. The artworks will have been crafted from three moving images of the band, and will cost $499 each. The sale will also offer a more affordable alternative to Nirvana fanatics, as for a price of $99, 150 fans will have the opportunity to own an NFT of one of 34 still images.

All the images involved in the auction and the sale were taken by West during the same Philadelphia gig on October 1st 1991, six days after the band released their best selling album, ‘Nevermind’. It is reported that only 150 people were in attendance that night, further amplifying the rarity of the images on offer.

Half of all the proceeds made from the auction and sale will go to The Trevor Project, a non-profit organization which assists at-risk LGBTQ+ youth to prevent suicides, whilst a remaining portion will go to Grid Alternatives, a charity fighting climate change and income inequality.
